The Hindu Bridal Mantra 2012 - Part 1

The Hindu is a leading newspaper in India and a Bridal Mantra is an annual magazine and event organized by them. It showcases the best of all wedding needs under one roof. This time, the magazine had actress Asin in the coverpage and the fashion show happened at Hilton Hotel in Chennai. The 2-day exhibition happened in Hyatt Regency in Chennai.

The venue and the stalls were an absolute gorgeousness and here's some for you...

This person is Mr.Dhilip Kumar and his stall Shubh Cards! He is maker of amazing wedding cards, jewelry boxes, return gifts etc! I esp. loved his Kalamkari (Handpainted with Natural dyes, just behind him in the pic) work jewelry box and he said he could even make wedding cards like that. He had also made this boxes with silk fabric exterior in which the wedding card printed in fabric was rolled & kept. He also had these sweet boxes in which card was also kept! Literally a 'sweet' way to invite someone to your wedding!
If that is elegant, here comes the quirky stuff! This is a Cheque styled wedding invite by Lotus Cards.  You or your guy is into finance, think no more, go for this. He too has his own range of elegant cards, but it was his quirky cards that caught my attention.

One was a Mehendi invite designed in the shape of palm. One was a passport shaped one! Perfect if you're marrying an NRI!!!
Apart from them there were a bunch of jewellers who had put up their stall here. The title sponsor of the event was GRT Jewels and their stall was centrally placed and had a range of exquisite gold and diamond jewelry! One innovation that surprised me was lines of small diamonds on antique finish temple jewelry. However I was on the fence on whether I liked it or not!!! The antiquity of the jewel and the brightness of the diamonds was somewhat clashing!

However what took me by surprise was Malabar Gold & Diamonds. I've never been to their store and the range they had totally took me back! The stall was huge in 3 sections. One section had a range of Kundan and uncut diamond jewelry that they had was fabulous, reminded me of Jodha Akbar! These sets were priced in the ranges of about 40-55 lakhs.
Another section had fabulous diamond jewelry! This ring is a filigree work, hollow cocktail ring with diamonds fitted on rose gold. The cost - somewhere in range of 2 lakhs! The whole set with necklace and earrings costs 20 lakhs plus!!!
The 3rd section had amazing range of antique and temple jewelry. Absolute fabulous pieces.
Another jewellers who I totally adored was Sultan Gems & Fine Jewelry. The jewels were small, smart with multi-color stones. Perfect for office or party. I am particularly partial towards peacock and this design was so good in gold with several colored stones & gems! It was priced at about 80K+.
Joy Alukkas also had a very unique piece of peacock set with 11 projected peacocks with solid body and filigree work in the feathers, encrusted with several diamonds. The earrings were a single similar peacock. Stalls were also by Kantilal Diamonds with smart, chic jewels, Navarathan Jewellers and Ethnic Jewels with temple jewels, Amrapali with some gorgeous, novel, jewels.
