Bride's Maid Look - Applique work Kurta & Wooden Jewelry

Of late, I've been collecting some good Indian ethnic wear. I've added a few beautiful cotton handloom sarees to my collection and I made a couple of kurtis and bought a few. I've already made my last post with one of those kurtis and here's the second. This is from Barcode91 aka Kalki Fashions, which sells Indian dresses online, esp. for NRIs.

When I was browsing through the salwar kameez & kurtis section of their site, I spotted this, with a tag that said 'Only 1 available'. I loved the traditional color combo and grabbed it. When it arrived, I loved the texture of the fabric too. The work on it was hand machine embroidery and applique work.

Well, Computerized machine embroideries are done at a hit of a button, and are flawless, but I personally don't like them as they are too mechanical and don't have a personal touch on them. Though this is not completely handmade as 'Hand Embroidery', this piece was done using simple hand held machines. After doing applique and embroidery, the green layer atop the red, has been trimmed along the embroidery. The unevenness and human touch makes it special!
