Dainty Tribal - That's an oxymoron? No, I don't think so. After seeing so many gorgeous tribal outfits (I mean, the accessories of the real tribal communities of India), I can say with 100% confidence, the 2 words can go so well together! The original tribal garments, and accessories of certain pockets of India are so so elegant and beautiful!!!


Dress: Bhushavali [Made of Natural Dyed Handblock Printed Fabric]

 [Handmade with Natural dyed Handblock printed fabric and beadwork]

Bracelet: c/o Castellammare Designs
Belt: From a Thrift market in Bangalore
Peeptoes: Jabong-IN
Well, this dress may look like a normal printed sheath dress, but then, have a closer look. The print on it is done by the traditional Indian art of handblock priting with Natural dyes on pure cotton fabric! So eco-friendly, right? And the pattern, is tribal as well! Its called the Warli Folk painting, done by the Warli Tribes of Maharashtra, India. The tradition of this painting style dates back to the pre-historic times of 2500-3000 BCE. Its customary to paint these on the walls using a rice-paste, on red-ochre background. 

How's the bracelet? So dainty, right? Its the handmade creation of Ms. Marianna Christina. She has created some very dainty and very pretty and very elegant jewelry.     Love the printed dress on you. My family is from Indonesia and we have a printed technique on dresses and bandanas called "batik" and this reminds me of it. Love the deep rich red color too! Great post!
