Bride's Maid Look - Saree & Zariin Statement Jewelry

When was the last time a piece of jewelry blew your mind off and inspired you to create a look around it, totally truly, madly, deeply????? I laid my hands on a gorgeous ring at Zariin Designer Jewellery and it was one such piece. I was looking for a perfect occasion to wear it and there came a wedding to attend. So, why not a traditional look... Why not play a heroine who stepped out of an Indian Epic...??? Its a cocktail, statement ring, so I kept the rest of the look simple to emphasize on that.
I'm holding here, the brass Kuthu Vilakku, the traditional south Indian lamp. This one is from Kerala.

Here I'm holding a brass Paavai Vilakku, a traditional lamp of Tamil Nadu. Paavai means a lady and vilakku means a lamp, so its a 'Lady with a lamp'. It depicts a woman clad in ethnic clothing, holding a lamp too big for her size, traditionally used in the Hindu temples. And yeah! I was inspired by the still of Paro (Aishwarya Rai) from the movie Devdas! Lolz!!!

Saree: Handloom cotton Saree from West Bengal
Leaf Earrings & Pendant: Khazana
Watch: Titan Raga
Bangle: From my mom's jewelry box
Ring: Tale of Two stones c/o Zariin Designer Jewellery
Anklets: Handmade by an artisan from Gujarat
Toe Rings: From a local jeweller

See how rugged the ring looks, yet so elegant! The stones are the semi precious black agate and its natural, unruly cut is utilized as it is and fixed on brass and finished with 22 kt gold! So practically each & every piece is unique and it depends on the natural rock formation!!! I'm loving it!!!!!
Btw, notice my curly hair look??? I wanted this curly, bouncy hair for this look. No, I don't have a hair dryer. My hair is fragile and I never ever take the risk of blowing hot air onto my hair! When that's out of question, using a curl iron is way out of question. So how did I get that effect? Well, I made my hair into little little braids the previous night and left it over night and next day I opened them up and here's the result. It stays put for 2-3 hrs. If you apply fixing gel, it should stay more!!!

  23. This dress reminds me of my friend's wedding. She is Indian, and her dress was just gorgeous. Of course, you can't do it up as a bridesmaid, but you look lovely still.
