How-much-is-too-much Gold Challenge

Recently I came across a mannequin at display at a jewelry store. Then I got a forwarded mail containing images of some brides. Here they are...
Pic 1 clicked by me. Rest 3 are from an e-mail forward. I do not own these pics...
See are kind of similarity between pic 1 and the rest 3??? This made me thinking..... How much gold is too much???? How much of accessories at a time is too much??? How much of gold jewellery is too much at a time??? At what time, does a person stop looking like a person and start looking like a jewellery store mannequin!!!!!
So I took up the challenge onto myself... I pulled out all golden jewellery from my accessories stash. Note: All golden not gold... Came to my rescue was my dear old LBD... I wore my LBD and started decking myself with gold ornaments and tried to put on as many as possible, in one way or the other, even if it means wearing a chain as belt etc! I stretched myself as much as possible to the point before looking like a mannequin.... So here's the look. Like it?

LBD: Bhushavali
Leggings: AND by Anita Dongre
Leopard Bracelet: c/o Bellast Jewellery (same as worn here)
Golden Bracelet & Necklaces: naaptol.com (same as worn here)
Watch: Titan Raga
Golden & Glass Bangles: Received as gift
Clutch: Thrifted from a Flea Market in Mumbai
Golden chain worn as belt: Thrifted from a Flea Market in Chennai
Fake Temple Jewellery of Gaja Lakshmi pendant attached to chain (belt):
Thrifted from a Flea Market in Chennai
Smaller Gaja Lakshmi Pendant worn on arms: Received as Gift
Golden Anklets worn on hair: Thrifted from a Flea Market in Chennai
Earrings: Thrifted from a Flea Market in Chennai

Well, that's my breaking point... I tried really hard if I could include one more neckpiece into the look, but I couldn't.  This is it. This is my breaking point. This is the point until while I felt elegant. Anything more than this made me feel like jewellery store mannequin!
Challenge worked out. Mission Accomplished!!! Lolz!!!!

  3. You look gorgeous ; I think a Frenchwoman couldn't pull off this much gold but to us this precious metal is very much associated with Indian jewellery so these brides do not look too bling-bling to me.X

  8. I think it depends on what you're dressing for! But if your neck hurts... definitely too much. For a cocktail party, less is more! But maybe for a wedding more!

  17. You look gorgeous! The gold against the simple LBD is stunning.

I know women in Sri Lanka who love to just pile on the gold to show off their wealth ... and they end up looking like Mr. T: http://4thletter.net/2010/04/mr-t-comic-book-jibba-jabba-part-one/

It's really sad. Sometimes I think women from our part of the world don't know when to stop because they're making fools of themselves
