Finally here are my OOTDs for Chennai Fashion Week. Here's what I wore on Day 1. I opted for a monochromatic look - Silver & Black. As accents I added red on my bracelet & lips!!!

With me here is Pavithra, of Makeup Martini. Day 2 I opted for the traditional Chinese outfit, Cheongsam. I bought it long back (almost 4 yrs back) on my trip to China. I was definitely not sure, if I was gonna fit into it. But very gladly I did fit into it!!! Yippee!!!

And yeah, got crazy with a bit of selfies, or should I call it groupfies?!!! That's gorgeous ramp & print model Pradhayini in the first pic. Below that is myself and Pavithra with Karun Raman, whose brain child was this event. And here I also got to meet Purushu Arie, a fashion blogger from Delhi!

Is there any Indian bride who hasn't wished that she was draped in a Ritu Kumar outfit on her Wedding day??? How I wished too??!!!! Anyways, that didn't happen. But getting to see Ritu Kumar's show seated in the first row is kinda mind blowing too!!! Here's Ritu Kumar at Chennai Fashion Week CFW2015.
The first few outfits were soft and light, with whites, and beiges, inspired by Gossamer Jaalis. The textile techniques of block print, chikankari embroidery, subtle shimmers. Some garments were layered with sheer fabrics which were also embroidered. Tone on tone embroidery also added to the elegance of the outfits!

From beiges and whites, gradually the colors moved to neutrals, golds, and browns. From sarees to lehengas to gowns to anarkalis, the collection covered it all pretty well.
Culmination was with the much colorful bridal outfits, with reds, greens, violets, blues, pinks etc, with much heavier textile techniques like zardozi, aari, thangkai etc, with much more layering with much more complexity of the hand work on it! The inskirt of the lehengas were edged with gold, that made the layering also much richer and fabulous!
How I really wish I could get married again (to the same guy, ofcourse), wearing a Ritu Kumar outfit... (probably one more time probably with a Sabysachi outfit! Lolz!!!)

Continuing CFW 2015 with the fantabulous Studio 9696. Founded by Sandeep, Ekta and Kavita, this is a cuber cool brand. Here at Chennai Fashion Week, they showcased a gorgeous bridal line for both men & women. Its quirky yet traditional.

The collection very much reminded me of Runaway bride - with heavy embroidered lehengas, but also with canvas shoes and sunglasses, the brides were uber cool!!! You have to see how cool this 'bride' is and just watch how the 'groom' swipes the lady off her feet!!!

The concept on their ramp was also fabulous with live music. With a karaoke playing in the background, songs in Tamil, English, Hindi, Malayalam were sung live by the playback singers Ramya Nsk & Vinaita Sivakumar. The showstopppers were Divya Darshini, Sanchita Shetty and Allu Sirish!!!

Up next is Kumaran Silks, which was one of the sponsors of CFW. Its known for its traditional silk sarees and here at CFW, a collection of semi-traditional sarees were showcased. Some bright colors, contemporary motifs etc.

More innovation were in the blouses. Some lacey ones, some jacket styled ones etc. No much variation in the saree draping techniques which I would have loved!! Jewellery were styled well, but time tested ways like necklace as maangtika etc. The show stopper was Ms.Chennai, former Ms.India Earth Rochelle!!!

Chennai Fashion Week began and ended very well and here are some of my favourites. Starting with Indrajith from Srilanka. The fabrics he uses are handloom silk fabrics. The colors were a mix of neutrals and jewel tones. The cuts were simple and perfect pret.

I love his silhouettes. Its all very simple and elegant. The colors are a gorgeous mix of neutrals and highlights. The shapes are a beautiful combination of fitted and flared that flatters the wearers body!

Sarees, salwars, gowns, flowy skirts, fitted tops, fit & flare dresses, crop tops - the variety was perfect. As a collection Indrajith has nailed the gradual variation and movement of colors. The subtle sheen of silk was the cherry topping!!! A deep, vibrating, soulful tribal drums as the background music was perfect for the show!

Next is Studio 149 by Swathi, an upcoming label in Chennai. Inspired by Autumn season, its falling leaves, the collection is colored with browns, rust, bronze, deep yellows, oranges and reds. Several textile techniques, including embroidery, tie dyeing, ruffles, etc were used.

The fabrics were also colored with tie dyed techniques including ombre dyeing and crumple dyeing! The silhouettes were not too complicated, but were not too minimalist either. They had a hint of shimmer. Some were completely shimmery! Some garments had an embroidery that had a dimension to it.

The ever so spectacular, super gorgeous, splendid, uber magnanimous former Ms.India Parvathy Omanakuttan was the showstopper for the show. She was wearing a flared gown made of yellow & red tie dyed fabric with subtle antique gold embroidery. The designer Swati herself was also wearing sheath, maxi dress made of the traditional bandhej textile.
