Being Beautiful at Work - Formal & Semi Formal Looks!!!
Many of my readers have asked me a common question. How come I wear the Semi-Formal and Formal looks that I show in this blog to office? Well my sense of style has always been quirky, colorful and India inspired! Throughout my college days I've dressed like that... Till date, some of my seniors who I chance upon, ask me if I still continue to dress like that! And yeah I do....
During my first day at my first job, ofcourse I wore a proper formal-formal. After the 'as i liked it' college way of life, the corporateness of the work place felt cold. After having a look at the corporate office, hr dept and other places, finally I was taken into the design department. As I stepped in, an eerie sense of familiarity crept in!!! Familiarity - Yeah... The moment I stepped in, I could hear the blaring Bollywood numbers like college classroom (yeah, while doing assignments and practicals which was mostly the case than theory, music will always be blaring in classroom at college). Eerie - Well, I was never a big fan of those blaring Bollywood / Kollywood songs. Mine preference was more in melody and classical fusion! To add to that, the tables were unorganized. That's always how it happens with designers. We pick up anything that inspires us. Some random objects and pictures always fill up our table and pin-up boards to the brim and ofcourse its all unorganized! And I felt pretty comfortable, that very instant...
Situation was similar in the other places I worked too. So, answering the question - no matter how corporate or extremely formal any office is, if it has a design department, that defies all rules. Even if there's a dress code for the rest of the office, there wont be any for design dept, except basic things like being modest and not exposing much skin! Otherwise, the color, cut, design, accessory - nothing has a hard and fast rule!!!

I think that it is possible to be both formal and stylish. One can dress office appropriate and still chose bold colours and accessories. I love all of your outfits! Even dressed up formally you still have your signature lively sense of style.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you've stuck to your style! I love you in that suit!
