Semi Formal Look - Neutral with a pop of Red

If you've been reading my blog, you'd know that I'm into recycling, upcycling, reusing and repurposing stuff. Check out here to know how I transitioned my own childhood clothing to adult clothing. Check out here to know how I managed to bring my almost-never-worn Gaghra Choli to everyday wardrobe. Check out here to how I repurposed my mom's old saree.

So, when I came across a brand that does exactly this and more, I was really really happy and wanted to check them out - TWIRL... The concept is simple - there are clothes in your wardrobe that you don't want. Sell it to Twirl. It need not be branded stuff or anything. It just has to be in a decent condition. Twirl gives you points depending on the quantity & quality of the clothes, with which you can buy new clothes on Twirl. The old clothes are cleaned and sorted and either given to needy people as donation or upcycled and made into gorgeous new clothing and accessories which can be bought at their online store. Today its been recognized as one of the top startups with the solution to transform India!

Suede LBD: Thrifted from a flea market in Brussels
Upcycled Jacket: Twirl.Store
Upcycled Bag: Twirl.Store
Bamboo Earrings: Handmade by craftspersons in Auroville
Dress Shoes in Red: 22 Octobre de Strelli
Sunglasses: H&M

I found this faux suede dress in a thrift market and obviously, right now, it serves 'the purpose'! Well, I'm talking about the front zipper, which makes it nursing friendly. I absolutely loved it and bought it. So, the Twirl pieces in this outfit are the jacket and bag which are both made of upcycled sarees. Mostly, the trouble with such products are that they usually 'look' upcycled as well, but not in this case. Unless I tell these are, they look absolutely perfect!
Btw, you do remember that Atyudarini loves owls, right? By chance, Twirl also had an upcycled owl! Usually its the big eyes of the owls that Atyu loves. This time, this owl didn't have big eyes though. Though she initially tried to figure out its eyes, of late, however, she is pretty much interested in the shape of those hanging legs, which is very intriguing for her!!! This too, just like my outfit, is neutral with a pop of red!

  4. Twirl store is amazing. It is such an eco friendly concept, selling used clothes and getting points with which you can buy new ones. Recycling is always great, I try to do it as often as I can.

    I love your outfit.
