Styling with Atyu - Monochrome Magic!

Have you ever been to a place where you match with the place and you end up clicking so many photographs? That happened to me at Liège Guillemins railway station. Its one of the 3 Belgian stations in the high speed Rail network. Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, this is made of steel, glass and white concrete. See where this is going? The whole look is clean, minimalist, creates beautiful optical illusions, light & shadows and perspectives. Its a design marvel! More about this station and about Liège coming up soon in My Travelogue.

I was there at this station, whose monochrome does magic, wearing monochrome outfit! Didymos makes some gorgeous fabrics of babywearing that's available as wraps, ring slings, meh dais and onbuhimos. This time I opted for a size 7 wrap (that's about 5.2m) so that I could explore all possible finishes with it. Remember my Cauliflower finish & Datenight finish last time when I wore my multicolored Didymos at the Tulip Festival

When it comes to fabrics, there's usually right side and wrong side.... Then, comes the woven design fabrics like jacquards. These have 2 right sides, i.e. even the back of the fabrics are so gorgeous that it can be mistaken for the front! I opted for the Millefiori pattern, which literally means 'a thousand flowers'!

Being in such a gorgeous monochromatic location, I opted for the monochrome color variant of Millefiori. The right side is white flowers on black base and the 'other right side' is black flowers on white base. Well, not exactly white, its more of an off white mixed with dusty rose! The fabric is 70% organic cotton and 30% tussah silk. At 170g/sqm, its actually lighter than Lisca Rainbow. But as I said in the last post, Lisca's weave is a very pliable one, and this feels heavier to begin with and requires breaking-in before I could begin with all fancy finishes.

When a fabric has such a perfect double sided fabric, obviously I had to wrap it in a way that showcases the beauty of both the sides. Half way through the day I back carried my Atyudarini. I don't know if this finish has a name, but its kinda, a variation of sweetheart finish. Then she got hungry and I wore her in front carry with poppins finish. Yeah, she's lower than ideally worn, coz...... well, she was hungry! After some time, she did doze off too - always the special effects of babywearing....

One thing about Didymos is, they often come up with limited editions of fabric. This means, you may or may not get a chance to buy something before it gets sold out. The Millefiori Monochrome Tussah is a limited edition introduced in March 2018 and by May 2018 its already sold out. Mine is one of those last few pieces!
P.S: The products were gifted by the brands for reviewing purpose, however the opinions are of my own experience and are this post does not to advertise the products.

  1. wow. These are some really adorable pics of a mother and child. And the lovely white lines of Calatrava's masterpieces are creating a magic. You really gave it a boost by choosing black in front of the whites. Lovely.
